Pensacola, at the western tip of Florida’s Panhandle, serves up a skillet-full of dining opportunity from great steaks and fresh seafood to Southern-style barbeque and Cajun specialties. Restaurants include local icons -- part of the area scene for decades -- as well as newer franchise favorites, many clustered near Pensacola’s two major shopping malls. In fact, the entire Panhandle, stretching east toward Panama City, is lined with great dining choices. Among the most colorful Pensacola dining landmarks is the 400-seat McGuire’s Irish Pub (Motto: “Feasting, Imbibery, and Debauchery”) where patrons kick back in theme-oriented spaces from the Notre Dame Room to the Irish Links Room. Hanging from the ceiling are more than $250,000 in dollar bills, signed by “Irishmen” of assorted nationalities. Pensacola and Panhandle dining options themselves provide a similar treasury of diverse taste treats.
